Konami Revives Castlevania: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood
There are many cool games that were born before the generation of young gamers today, whose appeal might be questioned and look no longer relevant. Even if tested, not a few of these games will have a quality that remains fantastic and beat the release of modern games though. That there is a clear reason why these games are a source of inspiration for some of the more modern projects or why they have managed to attract a fanatical fan base. Ironic or not, Konami actually loads some cool game titles like this. One of them? Castlevania: Symphony of the Night!
Having been released in the first Playstation era and immediately staying as one of the best Castlevania series ever, gamers seemed to have the chance to try it again on more modern gaming platforms - Playstation 4. Konami's official announcement had not been thrown, but the signal emerged from the rating site - ESRB. Castlevania Requiem name: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is listed there, complete with clear descriptions. Most likely, this is a remastered / re-released project.
If you just follow the game news information for the past few days, it's impossible to hear about rumors of the re-release of one of Castlevania's best games - Symphony of the Night for the latest gaming platforms. The rumors that appeared through the game list at the ESRB's age rating agency were presumed to be true and only had to wait for the rights owner - Konami to officially announce it to the public. Not long after the information leaked, the confirmation finally slid.
Konami finally officially announced and introduced Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood to be released in digital format. Not going through the Remaster process as predicted before, both will be re-released in port format for Playstation 4. To make the low resolution not too obvious, Konami will embed high-definition background to make it comfortable on 16: 9 screens, full HD or 4K. New features that will be pinned are sound effects from Dualshock 4, vibration, and of course - trophy! Although Sony calls that Platinum trophy for him will be challenging.
After the leaked information from the Korean game rating agency which was then followed by ESRB, Konami finally officially announced the re-release of their two flagship Metroidvania game series namely Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood. The two games that are made in one bundle are actually not port or remastered, but the emulation of the original series that comes with a variety of new changes.
Based on information from PlayStation Europe, this latest version offers support for 4K / 1080p resolution, vibration controller effects, trophy to pursue achievement, and additional graphics options such as high resolution background or rendering effects. Unlike the re-release of Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - MARS which comes with a physical version, this Castlevania bundle will only be released in digital download.
Actually Konami had released the Castlevania bundle on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in 2007. Named Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, this version offers a 2.5D remake of the Rondo of Blood series. In addition, there are also two other classic series that are offered in the bundle, Symphony of the Night and Akumajyo Dracula Peke. Of course this version is arguably superior in terms of content, but at least Konami still pays attention to their classic franchise. With this, it is not impossible of course if they will re-release Silent Hill or Suikoden in the same bundle version. (e/k)
