Download Google Maps offline on your iPhone

There are many things that can cause the battery of the iPhone or iPad is fast running out. One of them is using the Google Maps navigation service at a time when the network is not friendly. The combination of a bad signal + need to download map data is the right combination of spent battery iPhone and iPad. To solve it, you can download most or some of the map that later can be used offline without having to connect to the internet.

This is a way of sharing the loss you have to provide more storage space on the iPhone or iPad. Large size map can vary but at my place for a single piece could reach 200 MB. Of course you can delete the downloaded map or let Google Maps automatically delete it after 30 days to return the unused storage space. To download the map on Google Maps, here's how:

Download the map in Google Maps to be used offline

  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Search for a location that would like to kept the map
  3. Tap the place search results wants targeted
  4. Tap on the button with a picture of three point in the far upper right
  5. Select the Offline Download area
  6. Tap Download
  7. The content name to mark a map that is stored
  8. Tap Save

To save internet data plan you have, my suggestion please download the map when connected to Wifi only. There are some features will not be available on a map that has been stored offline, including walking directions and transit directions.

Although there are default Maps app, Google Maps is much more reliable. Including a more complete features and features for downloading map offline as I discussed above. Already been using offline map storage feature in Google Maps?

Aside from conserve battery and data package, save the map in Google Maps offline is also the appropriate steps before travelling abroad. Tried the above features? Got a tips and tricks using Google Maps? Let me know!
